Righthaven’s Troubles Continue

Is Righthaven a copyright troll?

Right now, it may not matter very much as a $34,000 attorneys fees award may break the company.

As you may recall, a judge awarded a Defendant’s attorneys’ fees in a case Righthaven filed in the District of Nevada. As the deadline to pay those fees approached, Righthaven filed a motion essentially pleading with the Court for a stay because being forced to pay those fees would drive them out of business.

The Defendant opposed the motion (which the Court has yet to rule on).  Meanwhile, the deadline to pay the attorneys fees has passed.

In response, the Defendant’s attorneys have filed a motion for contempt of court and a separate motion to execute on Righthaven’s bank account.

We’ll keep you apprised.
